What to Expect When You Arrive
at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church

Our Services

Our Sunday services typically include hymn singing, instrumental music, a message for all ages, a time for sharing significant joys and a sermon. We have different formats from time to time -- and summer services tend to be simpler.

Our services begin at 10:00 a.m. Greeters are in the atrium to welcome visitors at 9:30 a.m. Please come in through the red doors. You'll be greeted and given a name tag when you enter. You may then go into the sanctuary and sit while waiting for the service -- or stay in the atrium and meet others.

If you have children with you, a member of the Youth Programs committee can show you and your children the classrooms. Infant and toddler care is provided from 9:45 to noon. School-aged children spend the first half hour in the service with the adults. The children and their teachers are in their classrooms from 10:30-11:30. On some occasions, we enjoy a multigenerational service. For those services, everyone from kindergarten up stays for the whole service.

Dress

People tend to dress casually at Northwest, and you'll see everything from jeans to dressy clothes on any given Sunday morning. Children may be involved in a craft activity or outdoor play, so comfortable play clothes are best for younger children.

Coffee Hour: We Look Forward to Meeting You

We hope you'll stay for coffee hour. It's a chance to meet some members and learn more about our congregation.  Please take advantage of our visitor coffee cart (right). You won't have to wait in line, and members will be waiting to talk with you.

We often have a sermon discussion group in the sanctuary during the second half of coffee hour.  If you want to participate, listen for the bell that's rung to signal the start of the discussion.

Getting to Northwest UU

Our church is located on the southbound service drive of Northwestern Highway (map). To reach us, get on the service drive at Evergreen and turn right into the second entrance to our parking lot, just before the light at Mapleridge Dr. We have reserved several spots for visitors near the front door. Address is 23925 Northwestern Highway.
