A Little More Info on Our Minister

The Rev. Kimi Riegel, a lifelong UU and a native of the Detroit metro area, began serving Northwest UU Church in August, 2002

Kimi has more than 10 years experience in the ministry. Most recently she served as the interim minister at the Lansing UU church. Prior to that she was the Associate Minister at First Parish in Wayland,  Massachusetts. Before going to Massachusetts Rev. Riegel was assistant minister at First Church in downtown Detroit when she handled the R.E. program. During that same time she was State Director for the Michigan Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She interned at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Ann Arbor and at the Guild House Campus Ministry in Ann Arbor.

She was awarded a Masters of Religious Studies from the University of Chicago in 1993 and a Master of Divinity from  Meadville Lombard Theological School in 1992.

She is married to the Rev. Alexander Riegel, minister of the Farmington UU Church. They have a young  son, and Kimi has a daughter from her first marriage.

The Rev. Riegel is the fourth permanent minister of Northwest UU Church. Our first minister, Frank Gentile, served the church from 1953 until his death in 1984. Michael Boblett served as minister from September 1986 until August 1991. Lisa Presley served as minister from September 1993 until August 2001.
